In low light conditions, a Higher ISO rating helps you shoot a clear pic, with a fast Shutter speed thus avoiding camera shake. Otherwise, one will have to depend on a Tripod. Just try the various ISO settings and your preview display will teach you what no professor can teach :)

Yes, higher the ISO, lower the picture quality. Since you have a professional cam, you should be able to use ISO 400 comfortably.

or ...

Reflector can be anything shiny. Even an aluminum foil paper will do the job. A piece of mirror or a plate, you name it. Anyway, the point is just a bit more light, any light except flash.

You might also want to try cropping the pic. That is, you can allow the creature to cover 60% or 70% of the picture. Your current picture reflects a certain mood and if that's intentional, it's perfectly cool.

Since you are a desperate learner, I thought these might help. Hope they do. I won't be surprised if 'Cinematographer' is added under your occupation list in a few years :D

Best of luck.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12719946.post-3667231751428644712007-09-18T19:44:00.000+05:302007-09-18T19:44:00.000+05:30karthick:slightly over dont you think from a movie...karthick:slightly over dont you think from a movie and all !! :D you can listen to the shows on www.aahaafm.com
bhanu: yes definitely do :) thanks!!
praveen: and this is a short trailer on not to assume :D and yep i definitely run away from lizards and roaches.. this looks nice as you see :D
sheetal: praying mantis eh? thanks if it is so!
aruthi: thanks!Chinmayi Sripada /Chinmayeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00140920395019781614noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12719946.post-90288608929508793912007-09-18T18:33:00.000+05:302007-09-18T18:33:00.000+05:30Great photography...Great photography...Aruthihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16345857366249068425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12719946.post-13587693404953200072007-09-18T17:55:00.000+05:302007-09-18T17:55:00.000+05:30Hey is that a Praying Mantis ? It is b...ISO setting is the 'sensitivity' setting. It is being used in same terms as the film speed..i.e. 100/200/400. The higher the film speed...it means that it can get exposed faster..or consequently you need lesser light for exposure. Usually we use 100 speed in India...and in US...we used to prefer 400 speed as the outdoors may not be that bright especially in winters. However, the higher speed comes with a sacrifice..and that is 'graining'. So, higher speed pictures are not as clear as lower speed...u can notice this when you see sports pictures...the resolution is not very high as they used high speed films.

In digital cameras...we can mimic this ISO setting to deal with various situations. I play with ISO setting quite a bit. If its evening...I increase the ISO setting to get the exposure. Normally the ISO setting can also be automatically altered by the camera to compensate for the light etc.

I guess this is a long topic and its already a long comment...but just wanted to mention this. Since you have D80...I guess these settings are all available to play with.Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04761852896116998392noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12719946.post-34012678838273669442007-09-18T14:37:00.000+05:302007-09-18T14:37:00.000+05:30Hi Chinmayi!
