I am always worried about these kinds of things which finally get reported when the damage has already been done.
The drug company, study teams all of them are tied up. Even the FDA had taken the blame in the recent months on VIOXX etc.
No one knows the long term effects of certain drugs we take even now.!
Don't be too surprised if one day..they come out and tell us that Paracetamol / Acetaminophen could have caused xxx disease etc.
In California a test for Autism during early pregnancy is mandatory. I've read that there are a lot of false positives ( 50% + cases I think). One of my colleagues here had the problem. His wife was crying when she was told that the test was positive. Then they put a needle into her tummy, took the fluid from the baby and verified that all is fine.!
The baby was born hale and healthy.!
In California the test is not mandatory; it is recommended. Both the blood test and the followup aminocentisis can have false positives and negatives.
