'Tere Bina' nominated for the CNN IBN song of 2007

For once I have given a self explanatory headline.
I heard about the nomination a couple of weeks ago from a friend. And thereafter the crew from CNN IBN came home for a video byte from me to know what it was like for me to sing in it.
I, for one was nervous talking about a song in which I play a very meagre part. And of things that I will always be thankful for, Tere Bina is one of them.
Guru and Shivaji are also nominated for the movie of the year.

If you did like Tere Bina and would like to vote for it, those are the links :) TIA!

Last thursday i heard your song "Ennulil Engo" from Raja Sir's concert. I love Vani Jayaram Amma very much. Her voice is very unique and she is very humble person. Though I had not heard the original by Vani amma, but heard it was sung by her.Your voice had that uniqueness for that song and it well suited you!!!

Don't know about Shivaji for being the movie of the year, but Tere Bina has certainly been the song of the year, atleast in terms of being hummed the most this year - personally.

As of now, it seems the voting stands at:

Tere Bina - Guru 54.4%
Chak De India - Chak De India 27%
Dard-e-Disco - Om Shanti Om 12.53%

I'd say, most of India agrees :)

I too have voted for "Tera Bina". I am pretty sure it will be the song of the year.

Happened to listen to "Azhage Brahmanidam ..." from Devadaiyai Kandain. It's a simple song. But, your vocals are so nice and different compared to any of your other songs. You do have a range, not just on the scales, but also on the variations of tone and mood. Just Superb ...

Good Luck Chinmayi. Tere Bina is brilliant and deserves a top nomination. Wouldn't really go for Sivaji, though. That was dissapoinment in Tamil Cinema, this year. But the music was very good.

Hey Chinmayi,
Voted for Tere Bina!
"tere binaa chaand kaa sonaa khotaa re......"
So what if your role was meagre....it made the difference the listener was looking for....there was a reason why Rahman chose you....

I am very happy that a truly deserving song won the Song of the year award. One of my personal favorites of AR Rahman compositions and I am sure this is one of your best as well. If you can recollect, I stated in my earlier mail on Jan. 4, 2007 that this song will take your career to further heights. I am happy that you did get the true and nationwide recognition for this song.

I take this opportunity to wish you all the very best for 2008 and look forward to hearing your mellifluous voice in the likes of Tere Bina songs in 2oo8 and forward......

Once again, best wishes for the New Year 2008.

Ganesh
