Jodha Akbar

One gumbal of 13 went to Sathyam cinemas last night to watch this movie. I had the 6 of the 8 college goers who had come to the AKK valentines day special show, Balaji, Ashwin and Keshav from Aahaa, and Ajay from Radio Mirchi. As far as I know Ajay and I had been thinking of catching up forever and I decided to invite Ajay along, only to know much later that he had already seen the movie. He is one of the whackiest RJs I know and someone whom I derive inspiration from.

I loved the movie and would definitely watch it again. The costumes, the grandeur, make up, everything about this movie .. whoah.. Words fail me.

"Khwaja mere Khwaja" Good lord, whatta song! There are some movies which stay with you looong after you have watched it. And this movie is going to hang on for a few weeks at least, and I would say the music is one of the main reasons.

When Hrithik gets up to join in Khwaja, the look in his eyes almost made me feel as if his in unison with God. The magic of sufi mysticism. Its very easy to fall into divine romance, like they say. To fall in love with spirituality, self realization and all that until something happens and pop goes the balloon. But then like most of the books on philosophy extol, its but a mirage. The real thing is something that can't be expressed.

I have heard that Music is something that takes people very close to God and is one of the paths of self realization as well, and this is when I know that I have been gifted. To be able to express through music, to have a voice that can sing.

As of now I going to revel in this feeling that Khwaja mere leaves me with. Doing anything else seems pretty laborious. Actually.

Hey, yes i loved the movie too! i was one of those ppl who dragged my friends along to watch it on the opening day itself! although khwaja mere khwaja was lovely, i actually thought that jashn-e-bahara by javed ali was more soulfully rendered - the lyrics by javed akhtar were lovely too for this song especially...oh well... yes this movie is a must watch for romantics and period-film lovers...

Why did it sound so different when Javed Ali sang that one song at the Rahman concert?

And yea, music is just something else, isn't it?

I don't understand hindi, but even hindi songs make me go crazy. Crazy, no? Music is a language in itself.

Khwaja is such a divine song..unfortunately the audience in Toronto didn't appreciate it much as they were too busy making fun of the longs hats the actors were wearing and were talking all a long the song...In lamhon was sure magical love! fabulously pictured one of the best pictured love songs in recent years

yes. Parthi.
Same thing happened in Florida too during Khwaja..
There were a few people who got up to get pop-corn !
I was getting enraged, but got quickly pulled back into the song :)) fantastic song & very good movie.

if you liked Khwaja, you must also listen to "Marhaba" from Al-Risalha, where ARR has composed & sung 1 song for that movie.

Here in Canada, I managed to get all my friends and looked like in the English theater, we were the only 15 seats for a 100 seat movie. We had a superb time and I agree with you that Hrithik did an excellent job in the acting and Rahman anna's music was just sooo nice and it is very soothing. I can keep listening to Khwaja Mer Kwaja and Jashn-e-bahaara.

Your description of how "Hrithik gets up to join in Khwaja" brought a smile to my face, cause that one scene had remained with me for a few days after watching the movie. I am not a big follower of hindi movies or music, but this one song "lifted" me out of my seats in the theatre. For me, it was a multi-level experience. Just as one part of me was appreciating the voice/music of Rahman, another part of me realized for the first time what it meant for a king to appreciate the arts and what he feels when his people revere him.

As you pointed rightly, that Music is comething that takes people very close to God. When you close your eyes and just get involved with music, you tend to forget your lower self. I have no clue about music or singing, but the same thing applies for any work that we do, anything done forgetting your own self, body... you tend to get closer to higher consciousness. In music and singing,it happens to people who are even hearing it.. it vibrates every cell of our body. Blessed to hear those kind of music and divine voices.!!
