The New Frooti Ad spells Tamil words wrong

I do not know whether its a deliberate move so that people would talk about it or whether it was a careless mistake.
I noticed this a week ago or so I thought but was not too sure but "Valaradhe Kanna" especially "Valaradhe" reads wrong. Unable to recreate it here as I cannot type Tamil on this one..
If someone knows someone at that Ad agency please let them know - perhaps its time they got that right. Wonder who checked the Ad for correctness.

Hi chinmayi,
My name is Ganesh, from good old chennai. currently doing my masters in canada. The aahaa fm site was only source of IST entertainment for people living abroad and unfortunately, the site is out of order for past three or four months. Is there a "real" server up gradation going on? if so when will the site be brought back to action?? can you please shed some light in this issue??

thanks in advance...

Hi Chinmayi,
http://www.quillpad.in/tamil/ is nice for typing in Thamizh. Found that one when I wanted to type in Thamizh for my last post and I totally freaked out on it. What fun! :)

Btw, when you have the time, would you like to give your answers for these? - http://revsjoiedevivre.wordpress.com/2009/04/29/diamond-pearl/

Dont bother if you find it silly :)

Cheers,
Revathi

I think its meant to be deliberate.. like a spelling mistake made by a school going child who hasnot grown up... It can't be a careless mistake by the admakers, after all the scrutiny ads hav to go through, can it??

Hi Chinmayi,
I suppose the spelling was meant to be deliberately wrong, insync with the advert. The advert is all about becoming a kid and I think they are trying to write the way some kids write tamil replete with spelling mistakes.

But alas, I thought the spelling mistake was at a wrong place which I suppose no tamilian would do!!!

That was my only woe with that ad!

Try seeing that ad in this perspective, tell us what u figure out now!

To Rajesh, Shankar Ganesh, Maddy: If it is deliberate I wonder why English is not misspelt and I dont know if this is the case with Hindi or other vernacular versions.. . In case you guys happen to catch the Hindi version do let me know if there is a spelling mistake

Srivatsan: I think its meant to say : "Valaradhe", going with "Why grow up"

Hey chinmayi....
I noticed the spelling mistake as wel...I used to mention about it everytime the ad was telecast. Dunno if it was deliberate... but i somehow feel it was a mistake!

Sure will watch out for the hindi version and other languages.. But the unwritten rule of the media seems to be, 'be different and thou shall be noticed'... Probably this is just an attempt to be different, and hence be noticeable.. Indeed, it does catch the eye and that solves the ultimate purpose...But sadly, its at the cost of a beautiful language being mis-spelt... All i can wish is that this does not become a trend hereafter..

Its nice to see that u people are finding spelling mistakes in tamil. But some tamil TV channels are doing stupid mistakes in forming tamil sentences(like ottruppizhai).

i too noticed it but thought it could be deliberate..but if so, it's a very feeble gimmick..as (sadly) very few ppl notice spelling errors, esp in tamil.

I guess it is advertised purposely to identify. It shows that people who squeeze "Frooti" are not grown which reflects the spelling mistakes.
