Me too got the same FWD. And one more FWD about Taj Mahal... it was a real fun. First it was with Barbar Masjid and now with Taj Mahal. I will just paste it... I just told people no to FWD any more.

"The Moghul Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal built the Taj Mahal. It was built in 22 years (1631 to 1653) by 20,000 artisans brought

to India from all over the world. Many people believe Ustad Isa of Iran designed it." This is what your guide probably told you if you ever visited the Taj Mahal. This is the same story I read in my history book as a student in India.

No one has ever challenged it except Professor P.N.Oak, who believes the whole world has been duped. In his book Taj Mahal: The True Story, Oak says the Taj

Mahal is not Queen Mumtaz Mahal's tomb but an ancient Hindu temple palace of Lord Shiva (then known as Tejo Mahalaya).

In the course of his research, Oak discovered the Shiva temple palace was usurped by Shah Jahan from then Maharaja of Jaipur, Jai Singh. Shah Jahan then

remodeled the palace into his wife's memorial. In his own court chronicle, Badshahnama, Shah Jahan admits that an exceptionally beautiful grand mansion in Agra

was taken from Jai Singh for Mumtaz's burial. The ex-Maharaja of Jaipur still retains in his secret collection two orders from Shah Jahan for surrendering the Taj building. Using captured temples and mansions, as a burial place for dead courtiers and royalty was a common practice among Muslim rulers. For example,

Humayun, Akbar, Etmud-ud-Daula and Safdarjung are all buried in such mansions. Oak's inquiries begin with the name Taj Mahal. He says this term does not occur

in any Moghul court papers or chronicles, even after ShahJahan's time. The term "Mahal" has never been used for a building in any of the Muslim countries, from Afghanistan to Algeria. "The unusual explanation that the term Taj Mahal derives from Mumtaz Mahal is illogical in at least two respects. Firstly, her name

was never Mumtaz Mahal but Mumtaz-ul-Zamani," he writes. "Secondly, one cannot omit the first three letters 'Mum' from a woman's name to derive the remainder as the name for the building." Taj Mahal, he claims, is a corrupt version of Tejo-Mahalaya, or the Shiva's Palace. Oak also says the love story of Mumtaz

and Shah Jahan is a fairy tale created court sycophants, blundering historians and sloppy archaeologists. Not a single royal chronicle of Shah

Jahan's time corroborates the love story. Furthermore, Oak cites several documents suggesting the Taj Mahal predates Shah Jahan's era, and was a temple palace

dedicated to Shiva worshipped by the Rajputs of Agra city. For example, Professor Marvin Miller of New York took a few samples from the riverside doorway of the

Taj. Carbon dating tests revealed that the door was 300 years older than Shah Jahan. European traveler Johan Albert Mandelslo, who visited Agra in 1638(only

seven years after Mumtaz's death), describes the life of the city in his memoirs. But he makes no reference to the Taj Mahal being built. The writings of Peter

Mundy, an English visitor to Agra within a year of Mumtaz's death, also suggest the Taj was a noteworthy building long well before Shah Jahan's time. Oak

points out a number of design and architectural inconsistencies that support the belief of the Taj Mahal being a typical Hindu temple rather than a

mausoleum.

Many rooms in the Taj Mahal have remained sealed since Shah Jahan's time, and are still inaccessible to the public. Oak asserts they contain a headless statue of

Shiva and other objects commonly used for worship rituals in Hindu temples. Fearing political backlash, Indira Gandhi's government tried to have Oak's book

withdrawn from the bookstores, and threatened the Indian publisher of the first edition with dire consequences. There is only one way to discredit or validate Oak's research. The current Indian government should open the sealed rooms of the Taj Mahal under UN supervision, and let international experts investigate.

Prakash,
hope this does'nt creates another issue like the one already burning with full heat - "The Ayodhya issue"!

This Taj Mahal thing is age old. I got this for the first time some 6 years back. A lot of people challenge the same thing. First they say that some carbon dating technique and then according to a lot of people, the Taj Mahal has some very hindu structuring!! There is a lot said, that it is not a Mausoleum and that its a temple, and also that Shah Jahan was not all that in love with Mumtaz, and that she was one among the many in his harem. I remember going through a site dedicated to it. God knows!!! I am not supporting the concept, nor am I against it. The Truth shall emerge. Hindu or not its a great structure. Lets just let that be. I dont want an Ayodhya Issue in my blog and neither do I want it to become a synonym for controversy!!!

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN AUSTRALIA
DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT
THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR
STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET
LOSS OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR ____ DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY....it is not going to take such an effort to not fill petrol on Thursday 22nd September 2005. Hope this works...we need to shake the sheiks of Oil.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF PETROL GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 22nd A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF AUSTRALIA "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

Instead of making a hoopla about it... If all these brains could be used to find more Oil Wells or an alternative energy source.. The prices will go down automatically..

T.Padmhasini said...

Ya What Rags says is tru. I dont know what prevents the big brains from using solar energy for automobiles. Especially in places like ours where the energy is abundant.

I dont know if Taj Mahal was a temple or not. But i certainly know that Hinduism is THE oldest practise among humans, mind you i use the term practise, Hinduism is not a religion, it is a practise. Muslims came from Hindus, Christians came from Muslims.

ISLAM and CHRISTIANITY are kid religions compared to their great great great....grandfather HINDUISM.

HINDUS SHOULD BE A PROUD LOT.

T.Padmhasini said...

This is chinmayi's Mom here. Please let this post be confined to PETROL CONSERVATION OR ALTENATIVE ENERGY. We dont want any religious controversies.

We are human first and next Bharatvasis. And would like to stop there. Religion, worship etc. are very personal. And certainly not for discussions and voting in this blog.

Thank you

Very recently, there was a documentary type TV show called Oil Storm depicting how US's dependence on oil changes and brings off the spark among the nations.

In economics, we usually say, supply and demand are very well related. Oil prices are bound to go up, today or tomorrow. Nothing can change it. may be it is hard to have a lifestyle change for the mankind to switch back from private travel to car-pooling to public travel.

may be one day, chronically, the world will wake up to this truth. Thats what i feel!

Hi all, first of all am very sorry for posting that Tajmahal FWD. I never thought that post will go in this direction, lets stop here in talking about that. There are quite a lot of things to discuss like oil conservation. Chinmayi please delete that post.

BTW I read your interview with Thinamani Coimbatore edition last saturday.
