And..

I won the Best Female Playback singer for Varayo Varayo this year at the Vijay awards. This award was presented more than 3 weeks ago but thought it would be better to write about it after the telecast. All credit for this award goes to Harris sir alone and huge shout out thank-you to Red Giant movies.
I remember Ravikumar sir announcing at the audio launch that his personal favorite is Varayo. Felt extremely grateful to him then and continue to do so.  And yeah the award is kinda heavy. Very heavy in fact.It would easily weigh some 7 kilos or something

P.S.: I was mighty tired that day and was coming straight after the final day of the shoot schedule of Sangeeta Maha Yuddham. Most of us from the team had gotten some sort of a fever and that added up to it. Hope that explains :)

Congratulations Chinmayi! After a few close finishes, this one was well deserved.

This a great validation not only for you, but your fans as well! All those poor saps that chose to love Ke$ha over you are probably upbraiding themselves this evening for their lack of taste. Also, well played on keeping a 15 pound secret a secret! I'm trying to conceal my newly adopted doggy (now honorably name Chinmayi) from the landlord, and it's very difficult, so kudos to you! I'm actually pretty sure that you already know you beat out Bipasha on this year's FHM Magazine rankings, but you're too proper to let us know. Hehe :)

Sorry to ask this question here. What qualities does a person need to have to become a celebrity and have a good name with people? Like porumai or poramai. Please reply to this one. I just asked this in general and not only about you. Even criminals in the name of politicians and even good politicians are called celebrities. You are a great achiever and can be rightly called a celebrity.

Congrats for the achievement..Keep singing..

Brice: What FHM magazine?? And what is that in the first place? And what/who is Kesha?
Srikhs: First of, you need to have talent. Everything else will have to be imbibed.
Saranya: You ll see the same clothes in the 17th episode of Sangeeta Maha Yuddham.. Hopefully then it will make sense.. I came straight from shoot and in addition had a burning fever.

Congrats Chinmayi expecting more from you. All the best

Chinmayi, although I still think you're feigning ignorance, I'll try to bridge this cultural agaadham as best I can. Firstly, FHM is a magazine here in the States that is mainly known for publishing a yearly list of the 100 most beautiful women. For the past couple of years they have been operating an Indian version of the magazine and publishing an analogous list of beautiful Indian women. Basically, the magazine can be seen as another insidious agent in the crass Westernization of your culture. Having said that, you may want to check your spam folder in your email account for solicitations from the FHM editor, I'd love nothing more than to be affirmed in my assertion that Bipasha can't hold a candle to you. (I once read a Telugu article about how Bips doesn't know how Bips can't tie a sari. Someone who can't be trusted with cloth surely can't be trusted with fire!)

Secondly, Ke$ha [sic] is a new-ish American pop singer. She's about as mellifluous as the worst contestant that you've ever had on Super Singer if they were punched in the throat and injected with horse tranquilizers. It is because of the influx of "artistes" such as her that I am so thankful that I have found musical refuge in your sweet melodies.

Sorry for bombarding you with such cultural abominations from America, but I hope I enlightened you at least a little bit and saved you a Google search or two! :) With a global audience, you just might have to become a kind of cranial Atlas, having to bear the weight of a world of knowledge. Anyway, congratulations again on your achievements, and I predict that in a decade or two, you won't be receiving the "Best Female Playback Singer" award, but rather the "Chinmayi Sripada Award for Playback Artistry." :D

Chinmayi Sripada /Chinmayee said...

Brice: Didnt know about it.. and no there is no mail from anyone even in my spam :) The Sari is a tough garment to drape and when she has her stylist to drape it for her, why would she need to learn? and as for the award thing, its slightly OTT... not many would agree with you :D

BriceColdPlayOnwards said...

Hehe, I just want you to know that the one talent with which I have been blessed is surprisingly specific foresight (albeit in rather inconsequential matters such as Vijay awards :D), so please don't be startled when such boons come to pass. :D

Also, you didn't have to justify Bipasha "sari" skills to me. That comment was with tongue firmly planted in cheek (right where one would find Bipasha's silver spoon)! =)

Hi Chinmayi!

Your mother looked so serne and peaceful despite her heart brimming with pride, i'm sure! :)

ya...I was wondering why there wasn't a post from you about you winning the Vijay Award weeks ago...now I understand...

Hearty congrats for the Award...though this award should have come to a long time back ...however am sure this is just a beggining for you at Vijay awards and you will have lots of them in near future...shreya ghosal will be the only tough contender for your songs in the future also...

And about the show "Sangeetha Maha Yuddham", my request to you is not to make the show an exact copy cat of "Music qa maha muqabla", becoz we are already irritated a lot by some of the most indigestible copycat shows like Super Mom or Azhagiya Tamil Magan...it's high time we host the show using our own creativity..and am sure you have loads of it...

Hey Chinmayi,

Firstly congrats on the award... You have been climbing UP on the learning curve pretty fast and have come a long way since you sang in Kannathil... You are probably ONE good tamil singer of our generation.

Looking back @ your career, you started at such an early age that you might have not probably had prior experiences of singing for movies but you have been amazing throughout. Do you at any point of time look back and say, "Well !! Maybe I could have done this a tad better" or " Damn!! I wish I had known this earlier" sort of stuff...?
You seem to be going at such amazing pace, do you ever procrastinate?? or from where do you get such energy for being the way you are??

Hi Chinmayi! Greetings from the USA and a big congrats for winning the award. Lol ...I don't buy the argument that you were tired that day from your brisk pace when going towards the stage. Poor Harris didn't even get a chance to congratulate you when you charan-sparshed him enroute and kept going!!!
Anyways, here's a youtube Hitler parody to lighten you up...the actual movie Downfall (Der Untergang) is a great watch if you haven't seen it yet. Cheers!

You said earlier TV anchoring diverts your focus. I too agree with that.

I do not like that you have come back again as TV anchor for Sun TV programme.

Congratulations Chinmayi. This is yet again a well deserved one. I agree with one of our friends here on your appearance/presence in the award function that it wasn't amazing/stunning. Even before you say anything, most of us knew that you were not feeling well that day. The thank-you note was so touching and simple. Keep it up. Best Wishes.

Hi Chinmayi,

It has been a wonderful experience hearing you sing and also lend your voice for Actors.

A truely deserving award received gracefully.

I really liked the speech that you gave and your voice showed your gratitute to everyone you thanked especially your mother to whom each of your fans are also grateful.

This makes me wonder why couldn't Tiruvalluvar write "than magalai chaandroon yenakkeytta Thaai"!!
