Mehendi At Pondy Bazaar Road Side

A must try. Am highly impressed with their artistry and the amount of time that the Mehendi stain has stayed on my skin. I have tried it several times before with other professionals and even after a week now the color has neither faded nor scratched off.
Have been wanting to check it out for several days now and always wondered when I would make this time to get some Mehendi art done from these guys who say they are from UP.
And it happened during Diwali. And going by the number of steady stream of people, they already seem to have hit it off.
These artists are speedy and are very good. Take my word.

Glad you posted about them. I should probably post about these guys too.
A couple of them actually came home to do my sister's mehendi for her marriage last month. They charge per side of the palm (front/back) and the length (till the wrist/till the elbow) etc.
They'll come home to do it if you have enough work for them and dont charge extra to come home. And it has been a month now and contrary to what insouciant said, neither my sister nor the other women that had their hands done faced any problems whatsoever.
The area I see them work out of (the pavement by the side of the Panagal Park wall) used to be a open air toilet a few years ago. Now it is kept clean. Whether they are the reason or not, I am glad they are there.

They are really good and cheap too. I have tried them on couple of occasions. And as anantha said, they come home and do it for you if its some kind of an occasion. For that they only charge extra to cover their transportation expenses. I haven't had any problems too as so many say they are toxic. So many of my friends have tried and they too din't have any problems. I would definitely recommend these guys.

Hi,

Even me too have tried there once. They do really a good job. Its nice to have mehendi in our hands except for the embarrassing moment when someone ask u "any special occasion to wear mehendi" though there is none.

Anusha is right, I have heard of friends try it out and none of them have spoken of any problems. The artistry that these people work with is also pretty cool and if it can last for longer times as you guys say....I think it is worth recommending. I have...to my in-laws, none of them have got opportunties to try it out though, but I'm pretty sure they will. Good art, lasts longer, no harm....what else do you need from Mehndi???

Beware of the chemicals. No lab analysis are done to those materials. They maybe harmless for a while. Side-effects may occur at a later date. Byt then it could be too late... (just like dodgy financiers)

Natural ingredients dont last long...

Eskay: In the olden times it was mostly natural dyes. No one died of them more than we die of lifestyle related diseases these days. And FYI, the same natural dyes for clothes at least, minus chemical processing are advertised. Natural ingredients do last long :) Perhaps you need to take a walk down the oldest Indian forts where all the paintings have been done from vegetable dyes only. They have withstood centuries and more importantly the ravages of man.

I thought we are talking about mehendi here, which is applied on living tissues not on dead sands, rocks or fabrics. These living tissues regenerate or wither out; with them take the dyes too. Also applying soap or some other cleaning agents to the hands will remove the dyes, unless of course the dyes have reacted with colour pigments under the skin.

FYI I am into photography and paintings and aware of the century old arts :-).

HI,
Do you have the name and phone number of the mehendi artist in pondy bazaar? I have had the mehendi done the last time I was in Chennai and loved it and wanted to use them at a mehendi party I am organizing.
