Sahana - Post Script

The last few seconds of ending in 'Sahana' was completely Rahman anna's idea.. It took me a few takes to get in to the raga 'Sahana' and out of the song 'Sahana'.

I got several plaudits for this one too and there were people telling me that the end is one of the best portions in the song, and also asked me on how that short bit came into being.

Like ever, I guess Rahman anna conjured it out from where, God knows. He said, end it in Sahana, he sang the bit and all that I had to do is repeat :)

Wow !!. I love the ending !, I thought it was your 'sondha sahithyam!'. Sounds wonderful...Genius no doubt Mr.ARR.

By the way, he is touring the USA and we are waiting in the Bay Area to listen to him + the group on June-2nd.

I am wondering if you are coming along?

Hi Chinmayi /Chinmayee
I dont know you until I heard this guru song. I hear so many songs but I dont know in particular who is singing cas my fav is alka yagnik. But until I kept hearing that tera bina song... the way you sing the modulations or up a half-step, Up a whole-step or any downward modulation... the way you sing you great. You sing like you are giving life to that song. ARR is genious and when u come together with arr this world smiles. In my personal webpage I listed I want to meet arr before i die. but the way you sing its nice. there are great singers and in future we see but right now I like your singing so much. If singing is one part and arr music is another thing. In sahana saral please listen from 2.4 to 2.7 duration the way you sing i dont know how to put them in words. Its just amazing. And in tera bina the high pitch and the music matched well. I mentions the duraion of seconds but its not that i liked only that. I went to raaga and checked all songs you sang. And now I m checking all songs Im having that you have sung. The harmony of your singing is awesome. You sing from left to right, top to bottom in all directions i dont know how to tell but your singing is wonderful. your singing can heal and cure. Movie people and melt hearts. Listening to your voice(singing) people can feel they are closest to heaven that then will ever be.

Absolutely ending is best portion of the song..great work ..:)

Agreed. Great finish with that husky voice. What made that voice to stand out was the haunting Udith Narayan's voice. His high pitch beautifully compliments your husky hummings.

We expect more songs like this but it happens in longer durations! Let there be more songs for you in the future that will keep you busy and say "No time!" to compering, etc.

The ending in this one was really good, waiting to see what the picturization is going to be like.

The ending seemed like a pleasant breeze of air!

I just want to ask you a question.. how often do you thank the stars that you get to work with Rahman? For some of us here, catching a glimpse of Rahman from a distance is *amazing*, getting something signed is undefinable joy and talking to him is just beyond thought. And you speak of 'Rahman anna'. The man's something more than a genius.

I guess only the finish is in "sahana" raagam but the actual song is based on "sudha dhanyasi". Can someone please confirm it ? Thanks a lot.
