Does this help? http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.asp?p=454796&seqNum=6&rl=1

http://www.google.co.in/search?q=mac+.pkg+files gives a lot of results.

Take a look at this thread please - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2861026

Basically, you can try a right click (or ctrl- click) and see if you get a list of apps to open with and choose Installer.app. If you dont get the program on the list you can always select choose program in open with and then select the app. I am assuming that you are trying to install something. You can locate installer.app under Application->Utilities.

Apple discussion forum is the best place for getting ur Mac or iPod questions resolved. It is a great community. I've helped a few folks there and have also been helped several times.

In one of your posts you had asked, "On that note, any good suggestions on books? Anything. Fiction, Non Fiction, Cartoon, Philosophy, Psychology :), Spiritual.... ?"

The post is May 2005, so I am 2 years late! But I guess, you being a psychologist must've already read Desmod Morris' books: The Human Zoo, The Naked Ape, Intimate Behaviour etc... he has some interesting theories on human behaviour...

Better still, watch Desmond Morris's documentary series from BBC (abt 8-10 yr old) if it is available in India.
Critics in the UK didn't much appreciate his interpretations though but was very interesting and entertaining to watch.

eskay, I've not had a single crash in the last 5 years. Am no MS Evangelist, nor do I get paid by MS !

I think you're just paranoid about Windows :)
