Hmm.

Lodging an FIR over the phone. Not sure whether this is really going to be a blessing or a human curse on the Legal system. Perhaps time will tell. I guess there are a lot more people now who will lodge an FIR on a whim especially with the amount of stress people are going through. Rational thinking is not as commonplace as it used to be. A disgruntled person for example, like they have shown in the movie Eeram, can, if this proposal of FIR over a phone call is accepted, lodge a false complaint on a perfectly normal person. And Mr I-Don't-Know-What-Hit-Me will have to run to and fro the Police station and later the courts. Someone told me, in India, the process is the punishment.
That said, if you haven't watched Eeram, you should. Especially if you are living in an apartment, it is for you. It completely replicates what happens in societies today and how low a 'normal' family can stoop to get the house they want.
Coming back, I am sure over a million traffic complaints will be filed over phone if the proposal is okayed. And God knows how many Judges will have to battle with that in the courts. The Judges, I hear are extremely overworked and overloaded all the time. This is recent knowledge to me but if this has been the case for several years now, I am amazed at how normal the Judges I have met are. With the number of professionals across industries complaining of stress and this and that and what not, perhaps we ll have to hand out awards to these Govt. officers who only seem to be hearing, seeing and are exposed to the worse sections of the society through their day, every day, 365 days a year.

chinmayi!.. one day u say the govt officials dont work properly another day u say they need to be awarded.. maybe u meant the award for the ones who u have met.. however the justice dept is still as lazy as a goose.. over the decades so many cases have piled up and so many other problems.. dont tell me that the human mind which can work out ways to build things as big as a 1km tall building and as small as an atom cannot device a solution for a relatively simple problem..

Using advanced technology to make justice reach the common man..sound good doesn't it. Fancy as it may seem, it is easier said than done. There is no point in setting up such proposals unless there is a concrete system to support its usage. As you have rightly pointed out, it may just turn out to be the worst thing that ever happened. Not that I am pessimistic. I think the people in power should focus on strengthening the resource starved legal system first before coming up with such proposals.

Abdul: The only thing in India is one statement apply to all sections :D The point of is the kind of human minds you are talking of is a rarity, or even if it is not it is made sure that the red tapism and the system in India does not let them thrive
AMS: hmm. true.

Lodging FIR complaint over the phone. Does that really happen in India. I am really shocked at this news as I often feel that nothing related to Legal System work in India. May be I am pessimistic in this. But its good that u dont lose ur spirit in fighting against this totally corrupt system. I should definitely wish you enough to be successful in this new venture. ALL THE BEST. Please note its not a sarcastic remark at you. I really feel inspired by your acts and wish you blog more.

Lodging FIR through phone is a worst idea !!!!.Even if one goes to a police station and registers a complaint . They will hesitate to lodge a FIR . Because they want to know which side is rich to get the money and issue settled as compromise . In this way police is avoiding lot of cases

I don't think this system will be much effective because our police ignores our complaint if we go in person itself. Moreover after receiving the complaint they have verify whether the complaint is true or not.Bribing will increase subsequently with this implementation.

Read somewhere that in Australian emergency section, a person called and said 'Hey my tire is punctured and I don't have enough money remaining to call a mechanic. So plz call a mechanic nearby(so so area)for me.Ha ha.Many such calls to the members there to help the caller patch-up with a girlfriend, asking them to find a restaurant nearby. How funny!!

I have seen kids dialing 100 for fun.So I can only imagine most of the calls would make the officers go crazy!!
