Take Two - With Gangaiamaren Uncle

It seemed like there was no one left who had not already done a Take Two. I was one of the few and it was becoming increasingly difficult to find someone who had not done it before.
Mom said Gangaiamaren uncle would be great for this but it remained to be seen whether he would do a feature of this magnitude with a fledgling like me.
For those who do not know, Gangaiamaren uncle is also part of the Aahaa FM team, hosting a 2 hour show on weekends, called Amarkalam.
As soon as I gave him a call, he agreed immediately.
We met up at Amethyst on Saturday afternoon and the conversation was recorded on Sudhish Kamath's Macbook. The photographer from Hindu was also present.
It lasted more than an hour and a half and there were times I had hold myself from rolling on the floor. Uncle is awesome company and as far as youngsters are concerned he easily makes himself one of us and we have never felt intimidated by his status and presence in the field of music.
I have been following Sudhish's blogs even before I started blogging perhaps, but then I am never that good with dates and the like. I was formally introduced to him at the Podworks initial meetings though we had attended several common do-s. As ever I was very glad to get to know him and thanks to circumstances and time perhaps. I failed to take the photographer's name but he was part of the great company that day.
The uncut version is in Sudhish's Blog. And predominantly in Tamil.
Runs to about 83 minutes. Please give a listen. And the Take Two will be in MetroPlus today (05/06/2007)

Thanks to Sudhish Kamath for being patient enough, for this time round, working around my schedule was becoming tough due to Airtel Super Singer Junior. It is definitely one of the best features that I have been in.

Hello Chinmaye,

Hope you are doing good over there..

Thought you'd come to USA for ARR world tour. I was surprised to see you missing in SFO concert. BTW, Sahana was sung by Chitra madam & Vijay Jesudas...

What happened?

Hi, I follow Chinmayi's blog whenever time permits but have never posted a comment. There is this very interesting question posed by Vijay about the addressing of fellow performers that I had to pounce upon! Frankly, I have only seen such usage of relationship designations in the Indian film scene. I have the humble opportunity to interact with several foreign film productions & have never seen such an elemant. For one, it's our tradition to recognize & respect age or success. Which is great that we uphold. But it is still a profession. Imagine calling your boss at Techno Park, Mr. Smithji! I have not heard a grip (lightman) address Shyamalan as Shyamalan sir/ji/saab/..hmmm nop. Respect is given & taken. I have noticed it is one-way within our industry, the hero is always "ji" what about the make-up artiste who got him looking that way!? But like Chinmayi put it... "why not"! And on another, perhaps that's why they call it the film "fraternity": a group of persons associated by or as if by ties of brotherhood.

Regarding the anna - uncle addressing, even I found it a bit quite out of character for the otherwise cool and professional Chinmayi. She has brushed it off with a curt and flippant "why not?" while I am sure she knows "why" she insists on it, with reasons best (probably only) known to someone who has been exposed to the glitz world for a while now. ;-)
And i believe diplomacy is more of a desired quality than professionalism when it comes to the film industry.

at deepa: After a point in time,we happen to interact on a closer level with people in the industry..I personally dont feel that it is unprofessional to refer to someone in the industry on a more personal level. This is after all a personal blog. And "why not" was not flippant or curt, as ever it is very easy to misunderstand the emotions behind written words. It was a plain and simple question, which could have elicited responses. Several times people state they dont like, but never explain why. That was probably a solid example, because no one wanted to say why I should NOT refer to anyone as I usually do.

Hi Chinmayi!

I buy your explanation that this is a personal blog and you are free to mention people the way you like. Anyways, I don't want to delve deeper into this (not-that-important) issue...
well I heard your Sahana song only two days back (what a shame!) but want to say that I am still listening to it repeatedly! Great job girl! Lovelyyyy ending too
;-)

Hi,

A small piece of suggestion: Y don't you try leaving your hair free? Guess that would look great for u...also pony-tails would create a naughty and bubbly look for u.
