Absentee on Super Singer once again

To everyone who has been politely demanding an explanation on why I did not appear on Super Singer (Kuthu Round) last week. This particular shoot schedule happened on the 14th of November. The "Kuthu" round was shot 2 days after the "Entertainment" round. I fell sick as soon as I got back on the 12-13th. The shoots of SS stretch well into the wee hours of the morning. My nose had been lacerated and I had ignored the warning signs and the occasional spotting. I guess it decided to protest that morning when we returned from the shoot and a few blood vessels in my nose decided to call it a day. The producer was unable to reschedule for reasons best known to her and Srinivas sir also had a concert in Trivandrum on that particular date. November 16th was our show for the Hindu November Fest and thankfully by then, my ENT had fixed my nose. These are times when you wake up, smell the coffee and start taking your health seriously.
Again, I had a huge concert at Sivakasi for Standard Fireworks on the 3rd which was fixed more than a couple of months ago. Most concerts and engagements are penciled into the calendar at least a few weeks prior to the event leaving some leeway for eventualities. My Producer knew of my dates and though the shoot was originally scheduled to happen after I came back, she somehow had to advance the dates due to her constraints and told me around the time I was to take off to Sivakasi and scheduled the shoot for the 3rd, the very day of my concert and nothing could be done.
Point being: I will be missing on another set of three episodes of Airtel Super Singer after the "Unplugged" round with Stephen Devassi. :)
Yugendran and Malini will be hosting the show once again.
This is just to put an end to unnecessary speculations.
I am very attached to the show and can only hope that dates don't clash again. But then the Producer is the boss and what she decides, goes!

out of track comment ... i am not asking you to judge or comment on th judge .. but just something some one felt on the elimination of Deepshika ...

I think she was much better than the other girl who was Given a chance... Deepshika may have problems with her song selection - but think that shouldnt be coming a way for a start up singer. If you have a better quality then ofcourse its a plus point.

I am not genius to comment on Shrini Sir's comments or whatever The Genius Sujata commented ... but some how most of us who watched it felt that Deepshika was way better and she is solid...

Its fine to reject this comment ... but please convey what we felt to Mr. Srinivas and Ms. Sujata...

I guess we are all entitled for an opinion and i was just conveying a majority of what we all felt here in the uS - when we watched

We all accept what the judges said - but do not agree to the decision. I wish Deepshika was given a chance - if at all there was room for one !!

Thanks

Hi Chinmayi,
Super singer is one of the very few programs on TV that I watch. I am a big fan of your singing and started watching this program just becos you were compering. I believe there is a certain comfort level between you and the contestants that makes the show interesting. Your yelling(for lack of a better word :-)) is a little too much and being a fan of your singing I do not want to lose the singer in you. Malini and Yugendran and indeed very good comperers but your comaraderie with the contestants makes the show very much watchable.I appreciate the voice over that you did for Sameera in VA. I am again paranoid for the singer in you when you yell in some scenes - think it was in Satham Podathey. Anyways take care and have a great day ahead. Please blog ahead if you have a tour planned in Seattle.

Dear Chinmayi,

I just started watching few episodes of Airtel SS via internet and over the weekend I got hooked into it. You look gorgeous in western outfits and I loved watching all Judges and their comments.

I noticed that you were absent in the Kuthu round and now I know why. Hope to see you back in SS soon.

Good luck with your all season concerts.

Cheers,
Ram.

Hi Chinmayi,

Super singer is the only program I usually watch. I am a very big fan of your singing and started watching this show from 2006 itself. After seeing your blog today I am so happy with the reason why You missed last week's show. Because after Kuthu round show I read so many comments from people regarding your absence. People try to make up the news and were giving some false comments without knowing anything. I believe always there is a comfort level between you and the contestants that makes the show interesting.I was so upset and irritated with some of the comments. I don't know why people try to do too much in this matter. This is the first time I am writing a blog. I usually read the blogs from you. Since I am in US I cannot watch the show live in TV. So I watch previous day's show in Internet. Still I remember I had met you in flight, the first time I came to US. You were going with Super singer Junior people for a conert in Canada last year october. Always take care and all the best for your concerts. Please blog ahead if you have any concerts planned in Newjersey,Newyork.

Best Regards
Hariharan

Dear Chinmayi,
Good that you cleared the air. Your absence after the unwanted controversy lead to wild imagination on your absence. Previously, even I used to wonder the reason for some judges being absent. But now I realise that it's the Producer who calls the shot and decides the shooting date. "No one is indispensable" is what we use to say but the producer of SS has to realise that there is a fan following for you and there are some people who see it only because of you leading the show. The Producer has to take this aspect especially when they know your travel schedule. Anyway, the next three shows are also without you after the "unplugged" round that we will be seeing you hosting.
All the best for your future shows.

Ananth

Now I can understand why one of the audience was feeling sleepy :-)

BTW when one of the contestant was singing, Vijay "Adams" was taking some kinda notes. You were seated next to him. Was he taking the judges comments to improve his chance? Don't tell me you did not notice it. In that case, you are missing one "good" habit. However it looks like the one who sings last has an undue advantage over the one who takes the stage first. I did not observe the order in which the contestants are called for taking the state. Maybe you have taken this into consideration while calling them for their chance.

While we were in school/college didnt we rectify a personal mistake when someone else was yelled at by the teacher?. Thats life. There are enough opportunities offered to learn from others mistakes or forget mistakes, as a whole you need to learn and evolve and it happens from inputs consciously and subconsciously from others. And you know what, if the othe contestants in any competition dont learn from a judge's comments and learn then and there and rectify, its a solid waste of time and ability. And yes, the last contestant always has an advantage. The disadvantage for the last contestant in any competition also, is that the attention span would have gone by then in most cases, and a sense of tiredness sets in. Quite a lot there for you to..and would look forward to what you have to say

Hi Chinmayee.......

Warm greetings to you. It is sad thatwe may be missing you in forthcoming episodes. We are all big fan of your singing and we all wish you continue to give more and more hit songs to us.

The Unplugged Round was really really great....Wow....Stephen Devassi simply rocked....After watching the show, I straightly went to my room and I was playing the "Thendrale" song in my keyboard and my sister rendering the vocals.... When we heard "Thendrale" and Srinivas singing "Azhage", we were emotionally choked and couldn't control the tears that were dropping....
As an hardcore ARR fan, I wish he compose more and more songs like "Thoda Thoda", "Thendrale","Kaiyil Methakkum","Azhage Sugammaa","Puthu Vellai Mazhai" etc etc....We want the old Rahman Sir of 90's.....Those magical simple melodies....Now he is composing more complex melodies...We want that old ARR back again...Atleast for one movie....With that Vangelis like orchestration, cute little sounds....

On our behalf, please put a word to Rahmanji.....Atleast ask him to compose melodies like "En Uyir Thoziye"...I believe that was the movie which had that old ARR stamp all over it....Though the movie "Kangalal Kaidhu Sei" flopped, those magical numbers will ever remain etched in our memories...Please....

See you soon.....

Stephen devassy was like a wowwwwwwwwww..Now I relate, he was the one who played in amritha TV show..Singer Roopa was too good and Roopa and stephen were a rocking combination. I am speechless . The exact feeling is I am unable to sleep properly because of him...Cant really express in words...

Frank opinion, I dint really like ur azhage sugama.Edho niruthi niruthi, yosichu yosichu paadina maadhiri irundhuthu..It was nt flowing like usual.Compering la,

andha whoaaa, whoooo ellam sooper chinmayi..YOu sound genuine when u express ur appreciation for stephen.

One thing is clear.People are just swimming in the nectar of Rahman's lake/ocean :).He is a genius man.

What compositions.and how much scope the compositions gives for people to relish it, swim in it and improvise it. Thinking about it, they are compositions which triggers people right form the bottom of their heart and makes us freak out with our own imaginations.

I am not usually great with words and expressing, but all I can say is stephen triggered in me some kind of feeling which has made me appreciate ARR's music more and more more more more..

I am really surprised how this girl Ragini is progressing this far.!! She must be having back up for sure. Last week she was so horrible in the medley round.. she was gasping for breath most of the time.. none of the songs were on tempo at all.. she was signing at her own pace.. surprisingly none of the judges spoke about it.. unless there is backing she wont progress this far. Even this week in the unplugged she was really bad..

To that anonymous on Deepshika's exit, I guess I completely agree with you on "When "persons" far below the standard managed to cling on, why is that she has been shown the door?"..

I started feeling aruna belongs to this category of 'Persons'..

As Geetha said, Yes....Stephen Devassy was again awesome today. He has given a new zing to Airtel Super Singer.

Is he the pianist who played originally for Kaatre Un Vaasal Vandhal and Azhage Sugamaa?????All this time I thought it was ARR who played it......

Today's hero was Prasanna. He is really a great entertainer....Yes most of the songs in Unplugged were from Rahman's. As usual they were nostalgic, evoking emotions. Those magical collosal numbers were made even great by Stephen on his electronic piano.....

I will love to hear someone sing Anjali Anjali or En Kaadhale or Netrillatha Maatram or En Mel Vizhundha or atleast Margazhi Poove- my all time favorite....Hmmmm....

Hope to see more specials like Unplugged....in some form or another....

Hi Chinmayi,

Very surprised how the lady in blue "Ragini shri" is still continuing the journery in this competition.
Is there any special reason for holding her apart from the musical stuff she has (we all no she is fit for nothing except acting). What a bad judgement. There are very good contestants like Deepshika, aishwariya & madhumita got eliminated but this lady with the crack voice is still in the competition. Dont know if the judgement is like this then she might get a chance to win this title too.

Very bad chinamyi. Pls accept the viewers comments too.

Hi Chinmayi,
I have zero knowledge in music, but i love to hear music always. i have been watching this Program from the beginning. My favorite singer(Deepshika) was ruled out from the competition.I really don't understand what is exactly happening in the background?? Though, Vijay TV have produced some quality judges like Srini, Unni and Sujatha, I dont know why they are giving these many chances for Ragini and Aruna and why not for Madhumitha and Deepshika. This is not fair. What is their motto? they want Ragini to win the title? if so, why????? I would rather say, either Rohit or Prasana are eligible to win the title. Because, Ravi's voice sounds more carnatic.Hope, atleast Ragini will get eliminated next time. If not ,it is not worth watching this program anymore.I live in Sanfrancisco and if you have any concerts anywhere in US, kindly update you blog. Eager to watch ur live concert .

Chinmayi,
I would defn miss your compering next week.. I hope atleast in future, the producer is considerate of the fact that "you so much belong" to super singer 2008.
This unplugged week was a let down by all contestants.. I like Kodai kaala, unnidam mayangugiren songs, but both the singers Rohit and Prasanna did not do justice to the songs.. May be in a competition, unplugged round is tough..
Regarding judgement, this week was the first time in this whole episode that I thought the judges/someone who runs the show has a different agenda, than just eliminating the least performer of the day. All along the judges were mentioning that elimination is based on the day's performance.. but in this show towards the end, Srini Sir said that "we reviewed your previous songs.." why review previous episodes? Anyways, sorry to take so much of your space..
Viswa.

Hello there,
One decision every week makes your program weak but having said that Raginishri factor again makes your program running....everyone is waiting for atleast 3 weeks now to look at Raginishri's elimination...common ya we dont know what makes her to compete with other good excellent quality singers. We are in the new world and exposure....please Producer and judges dont try to hide the facts......

Thanks for your reply. My comments were comparing with a different field of competition. I can understand the intricacies in the music field. I do agree with you that it is better to learn from others mistake rather than making one yourself.

PS: I did make a mistake in my last comment. It should have been "one of the contestants".

And the episodes with Stephen was really an experience.Read that we will be missing you for sometime. You might be absent from screen but will be present in our hearts.

wanted to ask/tell you few things.

first..is there a forum to discuss SS from star vijay?

secondly a suggestion from my wife...your sleevless tops looks monotomous...can you try something else in future rounds?(any way i differ from her opinion)

and thirdly a difficult but practical suggestion...cant the judges and anchor change thier clothes for each episode so that each episode will give the feel of a new day..(as done in other shows).

and finallly we requestyou to open or close the episodes with a song from your end.

rock as ever....all the best and god bless

Hi chinmayi,

Great show and great host like u.But cant tolerate some good contestents getting only one chance and like raginisri getting more chances!!!This is our opinion. You cant do anything!!But
this is our opinion. Is there anyway to tell about public opinion to the producer/director??
Madhumitha,Deepshika and now santosh (Not in red alert anytime)
This is not the good thing to do.
Because we are watching the show and aruna ragini are getting many chances.Really frustrating!!!
We are in usa.We are feeling the same about this show!!!

[V]-Tuned-in said...

I feel just because Ragini looks pretty compared to other female contestants, they want to retain her. She has cracks in her voice which can suit for some 'Item' songs but definitely not a quality songs.
But I was really shocket when Santhosh was Eliminated. He too had cold like Aruna, but why he is eliminated?? & moreover Aruna's performances past three episodes were bad & like Ragini she was a regular Red Alert Customer.
I guess its not fair.
Even Rohit is not good, these days.

I personally feel to eliminate - Rohit, Ragini, Aruna together. & continue the show. The judge's process will be easier.
Well b4 closing I must say that these comments are my personal & not biased towards anyone.
