Once every three or four days I get a password assistance mail from google to my alternate email ID. Now why would I get that when I have not forgotten my password? Is this also one of the super spams?
I forgot my hotmail password once and upon requesting a mail was sent to my alternate id.Unless you specifically click the "I have forgotten my password" link, and request a change of password or the old password you will not get a password assitance mail.I think it is definitely spam.Better mark it as spam so that it gets filtered .
Actually its NOT spam gal ! Its just a substitute incase you forget your password for your google account.. Your password will be sent to ur Alternate ID... And you can retrieve it from there.. And thanks for your comment in my Blog !! Really sweet of u !!...
It may be a reminder .. I normally get it very often too.. Is it the one that prompts you to change your password ? Its just a useless reminder.. You don't have to bother about it gal..
I am sorry Sheetal but i disagree with.Mail service providers don't send remainders every 3-4 days.Thats why they have the "I forgot my password link".What you are getting is spam too, i belive.
I too think it cannot be some harmless reminder, but I can't see how it can be a spam... What does that 'spammer' get by making you see your own password every few days?
Do you change your password quite often? In that case, my guess would be that someone has hacked into your alternate account and is trying to get the password of your main account. Not exactly an optimistic theory, but at least stands to reason. :) Another explanation would be that the mail is not from Gmail and is actually a spam from someone pretending to be Gmail (phishing). If the mail asks you to follow a link or something, this is very probable...
I think there is one more issue. Google allows people to have a "." in the email address. So someone could have "ananth.a" as their gmail addy. But I have heard that if someone sends a email to that email addy, the system does not recognize the "." in the email, it sends the email to someone with "anantha" as their email addy. I know that this sounds stupid, but this was once an issue. This *could* be a possibility too, unless this issue has been resolved by Google.
It's either spam or someone's trying to (pathetically) 'hack' your ID. They probably figured that clicking on "Forgot password" would throw up a question if answered would enable said user to change the password, not realizing that a verification e-mail is sent to the alternate e-mail address.
Check the sender's email address....if it is not ending with Google.com or gmail.com or if it is some xyz@gmail.com, then definitely it is spam. Regards, Ananth
Its simple - somebody is trying to hack your email account - if u type in the wrong password too many times, google does that - so if u haven't done it somebody else is trying to have a look at who and what you are emailing!
--> It could be a spam --> There is a slightest possibility that someone is trying to access your gmail a/c !!??!!??? When that "someone" clicks forgot password you get a prompt mail or its an auto system generated prompt because of wrong password entry !!??!!??! --> May be am thinking too much :) Chitra
Its possible that someone is trying to hack into your account by guessing your password, every few days. After a few tries when they can't get it right, google probably sends an email to your alternate email address.
Chinmayi ,this is one of the biggest and most clever spam u mite have recd i receive it too every couple of days do not ever click on it. google wil never ask for ur password pls remember that !!lol........
I think someone tried to login into your mail box by using the forgot password process where you have to answer a security question set by you and if you get it right, then you can reset the password. But you are asked to answer the security question only if you have not used your account for 5 days or more. But If you had used your account anytime during the last five days when a forgot password process was done then a password assistance mail will be sent to your alternate email id.
So someone must be trying the forgot password process hoping that he/she can get to the security question if you have not used your account for 5+ days.Make sure you have a good security question set up,a question to which no one (even your mom,if you don't trust her :-]) has an answer.
sundar, sathish, karthik, LKS, chitra, anonymous number 1 and 2: I was thinking on the same lines more or less, but yeah I log in to my account wayy too many times to forget my pwd. I did think whether someone was trying to guess-work. Just wanted a confirmation :) thanks people
I just noticed your separate blog for pictures and photos. Considering you are way too popular than other girls, and also you have sickos commenting on your blogs as "anonymous", don't you think you should remove all those pictures and share them with people you actually know? I have seen people play around with photographs and definitely wouldn't want something like that happening....Just a suggestion - sorry if I have tread onto a personal note.....
i guess someone is trying to hack ur account... if they fail continuously a remainder is sent to ur alternate account... i guess i.e how the security system works if m not wrong.....
its not called hacking.. correction... its called cracking and the person who is trying to do this is really stupid..... so u don't have to do anything.. jus change ur password so that u can be sure!!
Since it seems that somebody is desperately trying to hack into ur mail, for safety purposes you can change your password on a regular basis, which, given the range of languages at your disposal should not be a big problem.Or if you feel that is too much work, use a password in a language that is not english or uses a combo of languages.

Google Account login, which is used for ALL Google services use https for login.
the http's' ensure its not a fake site. No, not at all. http's' ensures that nobody other than the site owner can read whatever data you send to them (your email, password or credit card number, etc). It's technically possible for an evil site to use https. In addition to https, the site domain where your data goes is also important.
Most professional sites today have gone https:// Yes, if you type https://gmail.com in your browser, your entire Gmail session will be encrypted. When you use http://gmail.com (without the s), your login will be encrypted, but everything else is not encrypted.
Of course, someone is tryin to hack into your account. Change your password to something really tough and send a complaint to Google ASAP.
My experience with Google customer-care leaves much to be desired. But then I think it's our duty to report. Like I told you earlier during your blog problem, nothing like a threat to make the mischief-mongers see the light...
someone who knows ur gmail id is trying to get at your account by clickin on the "Forgot Password" link .... high time you made ur email address private !
