The 'I-Fix' Initiative
Remember I spoke vaguely about the guys who fixed potholes in Chennai on their own? Happened to get to know Vijay better the past couple of days. I met him first at Podworks but did not get to interact then.
And a few days back when we were leafing through the papers deligently before my show on radio - part of our work and quite a luxury to get 7 different newspapers in your hand to read.
'I-Fix' started off working on our roads on the 14 th Aug. And a month later, today, as I type they are working somewhere in Adyar. Read up about this particular initiative here and once the people get together there is nothing that can't be done.

This is a great initiative by these guys. We must be really proud to have these guys in our city. More such social activities can go a long way in making Chennai a better place to live for days to come. I hope that there is also an initiative to plant more trees in Chennai.
interesting and inspiring...
Hi all...
would it be better if we join hands with them instead of just giving comments like "good work","great people"... they are also just like us they are not super human... infact they are doing something which all of us had to do... so instead of just feeling great about them we should join hands with them...

It is true that more people must participate in such activities whenever possible and in whatever way possible. In fact that is how the feelings are.
However, not all people who comment here, are in Chennai. Many of them live abroad. So, the best they can do now is to motivate with encouraging words of appreciation. I see no wrong in doing that.
Whenever opportunity arises though, we would love to step in and help out. In fact, many of them including me try to do some form of social work during our visits to India.
