Whether it is normal (yeah I guess it is not), but I have been finding quite a lot of water on the driver side floor of our newly purchased Skoda Octavia. My doors windows have been securely closed. That said, I do remember that even during the worse rains that Chennai has ever faced, which would be some 2 years ago (?) none of our Maruti vehicles had this issue.
What could cause this 'flooding'? And the company does not have much to say. Typical people.
What does someone do in this situation?

There's a leakage. Either in the Air Conditioner (there is a hose that drains condensation around the coil) or there is a leakage from the windshield water spray pipe. Or the very worst, your windshield itself has been badly installed leaving water to leak through.
AC is the most likely cause. There is a hose that drains the water from a pan. Get that hose checked because if it is clogged - then the pan overflows and that is when you have water at the drivers side.

I am not an expert, but the expert (and he also owns a Skoda Octavia) says that he doesnt have a problem for the past two years. I presume the water leakage is only during rainy season. If yes, then the AC route is ruled out. If it is an AC problem, then the leakage will not be restricted to the Driver's side alone he says.(nevertheless checking it will eliminate that doubt).
The one and only issue could be the windshield packaging being not properly done.
Regarding Marutis, my experince has been fantastic as I didnt faced a problem nor stranded with my Zen or Esteem for 6 years and even during the 25/7 Mumbai Rain. Plus the roadside mechanics can repair that vehicle!!!
Dont know how the Honda City Civic will behave in Chennai during monsoon.

Chinmayi...You never said when you face that issue ?? Is it while driving through flooded roads ??
If flooded roads...ask the dealer to check the beadings/rubber linings on the driver door.
Next possible cause could be the AC system
Next to that..it could be the linings/paddings/ under the dashboard where your clutch/brake/accelerator pedals pop out. They are there to prevent/absorb heat/sound from entering into the cabin.
Check if thats bad...else get the car to me and I shall do a complete diagnosis !!

If there's water under the dashboard when it's not raining, see if water is getting collected in the air conditioner duct. Sometimes the drain tube is clogged with debris causing the duct to drip.
Get your vehicle checked up with your car dealer.
Just in case the service personnel weren't able to fix the issue, you may choose not to use the AC for about a week or so (since it is not hot these days) after getting the water in the footwell drained. If then you don't see the water around, you'll know what the cause is.
I guess you called up their Customer care and didn't get a solution.Make a visit to your dealer and he should be able to fix it.
The windshield drain might need some cleaning,a blocked windshield drain can cause seepage of water.

Reasons might be
1. A/C
2. Through brakes
Oh..sad..but ours is not with such complaints...may be..the ground of the garage was flooded...
Per my knowledge there could be 2 possibilities:
1. In most cars there is a small outlet on the floor, located generally under the front foot rests. It is usually plugged but in due course the plug tends to wear out. There is a chance that water could've seeped in throught this hole. To check this outlet, you would need to lift the floor's carpet lining as well.
2. Other possibility being the beading of your front car door or window or windshield is not properly sealed.

Leak should be in the AC. BTW, how is the perfomance of Skoda Octavia.

As per my knowledge
There are 2 possible causes.First feel the water,
1.If it is cold and plain water, then it is a clog in A/C evaporator drain and cause the water to leak inside the car.You can ask mechanic to blow air into the drain to help remove the clog.
2. If water is smelly and oily feeling, then leak wud be due to Heater core which is leaking antifreeze inside the cab of vehicle.for this problem u have to replace the heater core.
Might be the water fron the A/C's condensor not draining into the car.

Thanks everyone. There was a blockage on some "drain" whatever they said. It was removed in a few minutes. They asked me to leave the car behind for 3 days to drain our the water. Which I couldn't afford to do. So I brought it back home and drained out the water ourselves :)
Apparently dust had blocked it.
New Car ???? Dust blocked it ???? so quickly ???? Thats ridiculous !!
Anyways forgot to mention this..dont compare Marutis with Skoda :-) Beyond comparison..Skoda is one of the safest cars available in India.

I wonder about Dust blocking in a new car...It happens after a good run of mileage, dust collects due to windows open during A/C run.
According to JD Power Asia Pacific CSI survey, Skoda holds 4th rank for its best customer satisfaction.
The above statement holds firmly away when compared to the problem faced and the service afforded by them.
