Isaiaruvi Awards 2009 Launch

Happened the past weekend. Decided to show up for something after quite some dismal times.
And that was the right thing to do.
They had come up with the idea of getting Singers and Music Directors to turn up and walk the ramp. Right from Madhumitha, her sister Charulatha, Srilekha, Suchitra, Deepa Miriam (of Kangal Irandaal), Sumangali, Mahathi and Shwetha Mohan, Benny Dayal, Rahul Nambiar, Ranjith, Krish, Karthik, Vijay Yesudas, Naresh Iyer and Belli Raj made up the singers. Ms Rohini, Bobo Shankar who has composed for Kulir and James Vasanthan represented the composers. FYI, I wasn't part of the gala on stage but I cheered from the first row.
And believe me, I think to be a part of the audience was the best thing. Its funner.:) Though I usually take the womens' side the men somehow stole the thunder. And the best amongst the singers walking the ramp IMHO was definitely Vijay Yesudas. Enough attitude to give a professional model a run for his money. Benny and Krish were brilliant too. And the three got the maximum cheering from the audience. Suchitra looked super professional amongst the women - her fitness regime definitely shows. And I think she must have taken some kind of a Markandeya Varam or something for eternal youth :D She looks even younger than she looked several years ago.
But overall I think the new kids on the ramp had super fun and we were given to understand that the choreographer was pretty impressed with all the singers. Vijay Adiraj hosted the show and really there aren't too many like him in India who can pep a live audience.
Khushboo cast her first votes to choose her favorite stars. And if you would like to do so, I guess there is an option of voting online. The invite says, you could do so at www.bharatstudent.com, but for the life of me I cannot see where the link is, if there is one. There is a promotional truck going around and there is a talent hunt also and 10 winners will be trained by Srinivas sir.
As for the awards, its quite a huge list and I found my name under Chinnamma Chilakamma and Avarampoo. I think there are songs chosen from every movie that released last year. Or so I think.
The grand finale happens on the 11th July.
The post event party was enlivening as well and we finally found our smiles back. Got an opportunity to speak with Vijay Anthony and he keeps proving time and again that he is quite a forthright person and stands for his beliefs. Met up with other several people I had not seen in ages. Photographers I had met at the beginning of my career, journalists as well. Also happened to meet the cameraman who was first part of the team that had me, the director and cameraman. Remembered the good times we had and the funnest times was with this cameraman called Saravanan who prefers to be known as "Aryan". Shooting with him had always been a super happy time along with Rajkumar because he used to keep tripping on Saravanan and all that I could do was prevent myself from rolling on the floor laughing. I realize that no matter what happens if we somehow remember to hang on only to the good memories, remember the good people, things are much better. But yes, it takes a while to forgive and forget the instances that make the bad ones. But once that is achieved there is a lot more peace.
The pictures are up on Galatta and Behindwoods have a look and God bless

Chinmayi,
Thanks for sharing your experience in the Isai Aruvi Awards.
I did see the pictures in behindwoods and felt Vijay Yesudas was great out of the lot. I felt only a handful of them were okay and many of the singers make-up were loud. I did see you and decided you were not in the ramp:-)
Congratulations on the nominations. I like Avaram poo of yours. The tonality of your voice in this song was brilliant. Wish you win one or even two.

Hi Chinmayi,
I read your previous blog that you published last week and did not understand what it was about then. Now I have understood it and am also deeply hurt with what has happened. I dont know why this is happening...

We will miss you on AIR. I used to listen to you everyday on aahaa and have called you quite a few times on the live show to share my thoughts. Past 2 days I have simply been skipping that channel and switched over to another one... without you it is no longer the same...

I was not happy to see that you were not on the special invitee list on the live show in Airtel Super Singer 2008 show on 5th... you are some one closely involved in the grooming stages of those singers and should have been invited as special guest... what they have done this week.. that too, in coincidence with the Hindu publication this weekend is deeply deeply hurting.. That too the same irritating person who is half as good as you... as a replacement for you ???.. really really bad... I am really sorry...

I am sure this will throw much more newer opportunities for you and we will get to hear you and talk to you in newer mediums in the future... I pray for it !. Let us be positive... All the best !. Take care !.

As ardent fans of your social conciousness, we will be with you, all the way in whatever you do !.
Take care..

Hi Chinmayi,
Iam glad you are on your right track now... Keep rocking. Remember this saying " This too will Pass"! I hope you feel better by now. Everyday i checked your blog hoping that you would recover from that particular incident. Eventually you did. Iam so happy for you. Nothing can stop you for what you deserve. After all, you have a wonderful Mother who is always there for you.. My love and respect for your wonderful Mom. I wish you more success and happiness in your life.
Cheers,
Akil

Kaja: Hopefully its all for the good.
Akil: I hope so.. I am being taken round the bend
Venky: It was meant to be "funnest". Not funniest. Its a new term I put together meaning a lot of fun. I thought lot of fun would be cliched to say. Believe me there was nothing funny in that show ;)

Chinmayi~ If you were part of the ramp, I'm sure you also would have got the maximum cheering from the audience:)

I was also confused about your earlier post but now I understood what has happened after reading Gaja's comment. As you said, it's all for good. Like what Prakash Raj say's in the Movie Arai En 305'l Kadavul, all these people around us are like sculptor's and they are making a beautiful statue out of us. We should infact thank them;)

Greetings from USA.

I love Lesa parakkuthu song from vennila kabadi kuzhu. The texture that you gave to this song is simply amazing. I really feel bad that this song didn't take an entry in the nominations. ever since the song was online, I hear it all the time. Nevertheless, I would choose aavaaram poo among the two nominated.

Please post the link once you get it right.

Hi Chinmayi,
Its been a long time since I commented in your blog.
First of all, wishing you for getting an award from Isaiaruvi.
Happened to hear Malini hosting the show 'Aahaa Coffee club'. I couldnt think that you are not going to host the show. As per the comments in ur blog by few visitors, I came to know that you wil not be hosting.. It will be a great loss for the show, as I think it is the first interactive show where civic concerns where keenly taken and dealt in a nice manner.

About the previous post 'You know', I neednt say anything more as you already mentioned that your mother's life inspires you to withstand all the issues. But, I have an opinion/suggestion: Better avoid those people who are getting upset due to the fact that you are multifaceted. There are many people who gets admired and inspired by you.. Think that and be positive..

Just came to know that there are 2 toll gates between Dindivanam and Chennai for which the contract[Given to some malasiyan companies] had already ended before one year, but still they are collecting money..

Forgot to add one more thing..
I was surprised to see you in Kamalhassan's Screenwriting workshop.. How was the experience? Are you taking screenwriting next?

you've got to leave something to gain something. And I believe that God has planned something greater for you ahead. And he 'had' to make you leave somethings which were close to your heart so that you'd have more time to allocate for his great plan... :D
you've earned plenty of followers along your journey. and we'll be here to cheer on for every step that you put forward, darling. be great, stay the way you are. gambateh!

Glad to hear that you are coming out of(emotionally) the bad phase. I am sure you will climb to greater heights. Even the great Yesudas, endured much pain before reaching the heights he did. Just one in many. I think, you are more of an optimistic person than most of us, so certainly don't need these words.

Good luck and Best Wishes,

Chinmayi, its more than a week now & unable to fill the gap between 8 & 9 am.

As usual, me & my wife were heading to office. She was scanning one channel after another to check if we can hear something good in the morning. Absolutely nothing. She was so annoyed.

Yours was the only program which was really dedicated to serious issues & listeners views. Its crazy that its not on air? Is the management wrongly informed/misguided (or) are the Chennai people so useless that they don’t have the appetite for such a good show.

Though I don’t want to negatively comment on anyone, I can’t stop comparing you with the current host. The person does not have an opinion. And I always felt that your show was so distinct & good because you had your opinion. Quite a few times, I have not agreed with your point of view, but I always felt that you spoke with complete conviction. And that kind of “character” is exactly what is missing on other channels & other programs as well.

We deserve many more such serious programs in this country, I hope & pray that you will soon start a similar show on some other Radio or TV…

That was one hell of a tongue-in-cheek comment. I thought I read something in between lines.
Happened to see the show and my god, I could hardly keep a straight face thru out the brilliant ramp walk. :-)))))))

Chinmayi Sripada /Chinmayee said...

Sheesh Deepa :) it was not meant to be tongue in cheek actually. In their defence I would say none of them have been taught to walk the ramp or the typical poise one should have while up there. All of them mostly doing it for the first time but despite all that it was novel and fun. Not funny :) And nothing tongue in cheek there. :)
